This week is hot and the plants are much happier and starting to grow. Thank heavens the frost, which I don't think actually happened, didn't kill them. What they really need is a nice gentle rain for more than say the 5 minutes that we had yesterday. The soil is dry and watering just doesn't do as good a job as Mother Nature does.
Well, fingers crossed that the plants continue to grow healthy and strong. Keep tuning in and see what the summer brings.
The ups and downs of how my garden grows. I'm a novice gardener who just loves to grow things in my little garden.

Unhappy Plants - May 22
We planted the garden a week ago Saturday and the plants do not look happy at all. It may be the fact that we haven't had any rain all well, even though it was forecast to rain a few times. I've watered every day, but nothing is as good as a nice steady spring rain shower. What doesn't help is that it's been cold almost every night as well. Tonight may get cold enough that we could possibly get frost. I will water the plants and tarp the garden to try and keep it warm enough so that nothing dies. Fingers crossed! After this it "should" get much warmer. I hope!

Planting The Garden - May 17, 2015
Today we planted the garden. As you can see every available space has been used. I need to expand that garden plot. We planted peas, cabbage, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes (cherry, Roma and yellow), cauliflower and broccoli. We also planted some flower in with the vegetables to keep the bugs away...I hope!!! When I planted the garden I added some Miracle Grow plant food to the soil as an added kick. A little water and some luck and in a month or so we should have some vegetables.
Here you can see the planter that my husband did. It looks very nice. We also have the two Hosta's coming up and the tulips have come and gone. Unfortunately our rose bush is not doing so well and I'm not sure if it will survive or not.
Well, that's it for now. More photos to come!

Spring 2015 - Beautiful Blooms
My beautiful tulips have finally opened and they looks amazing as ever. They will have a little extra room now as the twigs you see is what's left of my rose bush. Unfortunately, I think the roses have bit the dust.
The strawberries have made a comeback and already have flowers on them. The strawberries can't be far away.
Here are my hyacinths. Sadly only a few of them came up this year.
In preparation for the planting weekend in two weeks I have turned the soil in my garden and have drawn out a map of my garden. All of the best laid plans though; it all depends on what the garden centre has available when we go. I plan to have different kinds of tomatoes (Roma, Sweet Millions cherry tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes, and Beef Stake). zucchini, cucumbers, potatoes, garlic, squash, broccoli and cauliflower and whatever else I find that is new and different.
I am really happy to be getting back into the garden again after a long cold winter.
