If you remember last year we only had the far plot for our garden and I promised a garden extension. Well, here is the start of the garden expansion project. We had some extra wood from our new fence. Our neighbour Mike and his sons Xavier and Quinn came over to figure out how we were going to go about this and how big we wanted it to be. The next step was to dig out all of the grass. I never thought in a million years that it would be so difficult to dig out grass. It took Neal and I all afternoon and into the evening to remove clumps of grass and dirt. We were both exhausted when it was all done. The next step was to rake and level the mud that was left. We seem to have clay mixed in with the soil and a lot of tree roots from the city tree by the sidewalk. Then we got 17 bags of triple mix to add to the new garden. I dumped the soil and raked it and it is now relatively level. The next day Mike came back to secure the wood in place. Below this is what the garden looks like now that the walkways are in and the plants are in. I love the whole look now.
