My First Spaghetti Squash And Some Chery Tomatoes

Welcome back to what did I pick in the garden report.  This morning I went out and finally picked the spaghetti squash before some animal did it for me.  This just might be the only one that plant produces.  And then I picked all different kinds of cherry tomatoes.  Sadly due to the drought and really hot summer, the garden is doing poorly.  In the last few days we've had a little rain and slightly cooler temperatures but I think that damage may be done.  We're going to need a lot of rain to undo the damage from the drought.

Anyway, I will post more as things start to ripen.

Wow Tomatoes Are Ready - July 7, 20176

Welcome back to my gardening blog.  It's been sunny and very hot lately.  So hot in fact that they are calling it a heatwave.  Apparently the plants are loving it.  Here are some yellow cherry tomatoes and the red one is called Early Girl cherry tomatoes.  The yellow ones are less acidic and sweeter.
As you can see, the Spaghetti Squash is still growing bigger every day.  I can't wait to try it out.
I'm so excited to show you my very first zucchini of the season.  It will hopefully be the first of many.  I've got lots of zucchini recipes to share if anyone is interested.  Yes you can get your kids to eat vegetables if you are good at hiding them in foods they like.  Zucchini chocolate cake anyone!
Finally, here is a Long English Telegraph cucumber.  For a few years now the garden centre has been mislabeling their cucumbers and selling other varieties of cucumbers as English Telegraph cucumber.  As you can see, there's a big difference.

Well, that's all for this edition.  Get out there and grow your own food.  Get your kids involved so that they know where their food comes from.  It's important!

July 3, 2016 - A Few Firsts Of The Season In The Garden

Good Morning and welcome back to my garden.  This morning I wanted to show you some baby veggies that have been born in the garden in the last few days.

On the right we have two very small Spaghetti Squash that have suddenly appeared.  They seem to get bigger by the day.
Here you are just able to make our the beginnings of a zucchini.  We have a few tiny zucchini just starting to flower.
On the right, you can just see a little tiny English Cucumber with the flower attached at the end.
Here we have a lot of kale.  We've used it a few times in salads already.  It takes really good and it's good for you as well.
Here we have some beautiful purple flowers from my neighbour's house.  I just love how they decorate my fence.  They really are beautiful.

Well, that's all I have to show you today.  The tomatoes were not very photogenic this morning as they were still in the shade, but we have a lot of baby cherry tomatoes.
